The Canadian Association of Student Activity
Advisors (CASAA) is composed of young people from secondary schools
and counselors. CASAA is a non-profit association, the association
of education in Canada.
The Canadian Activity Advisors Association also provides assistance
of advisors who are looking for help, ideas and resources so they
can be more effective in its responsibilities. One way is to support
the bulletin CASAA, above and beyond. The newsletter is sent free
of charge three times a year to over 3,100 schools throughout
the country.
Mission and Objectives
The mission is to promote and develop leadership and student activities
in secondary schools across the country. Our goal is:
facilitate the professional growth of Councilors by Student
Activity
Contributing to equip them with the resources, ideas and support
for
Becoming effective instructors student leaders
across Canada to promote the dissemination and exchange
of ideas
Relatives for student activities
support the organization and the growth of provincial associations
Student activity advisers
actively promote the concept of student leadership
Structure of Directors of the Association
The Association is governed by a board of directors that is composed
of four members of the executive, a director of all provinces
and territories of Canada, a director general to represent the
French-speaking community, an executive director and a representative
of the publication and communication.
It holds two meetings a year, once during the annual session
of the Canadian Student Leadership Conference (mostly) and once
during the spring.
In April 1993 the Board meeting held in Winnipeg, the Council
appointed its first executive director. A job description has
been created for this position. The Executive Director is expected
to work closely with the Chairman of the Board for managing day
to day affairs of the Association.
